A Muybridge Nude
91 x 122 cms 2007
I came across a book of Muybridge photos at Art College over 40 years ago. Then my husband bought me the book several years back and I found this descending nude enormously compelling. I used her in Bridge (1999 - 2000).
Then I recently woke up at 3 am with this painting whole and entire in my head. The only problem was the coat and I FOUND IT! It was, improbably, in an op shop in the middle of summer, for $6. It had a brown lining but, wary of another brown death, it became red.
I am certain the psychologists out there will be able to understand my entire life from this painting. To help you along a bit, my father used to wear an identical coat.
