THE RAILWAY
The Ghan and Indian Pacific regularly pass through Gladstone on one of the few remaining railway lines in the Mid North.
THE GAOL
Gladstone Gaol was opened in 1881. Used as an internment camp for Italian and German detainees and a military prison during world War II, it was closed in 1975 and is now open for tourists to explore, refresh themselves in the cafe, or spend the night in a cell.
